The work that goes into producing musical experiences that are packed with show-stopping performances, electrifying choreography, and standing ovations can never be underestimated.

This is why the SAMPRA Development Fund offers funding for producers of musicals. You could be a theatre producer, a school or an institution that is passionate about the arts…we’ve got you.

The SAMPRA Development Fund can help you with funds for the following:

  • venue hire;
  • costume design and hire;
  • sound equipment rental;
  • sound engineering; and
  • marketing and promotion.

 

Musicals Eligibility Criteria and Funding Rules

Eligibility

  • South African theatre producers, a school or an institution whose musical projects are aligned with SAMPRA’s vision and strategic objectives.
  • Only projects hosted in South Africa will qualify for financial assistance.
  • The application should be accompanied by a CK document(proof of company registration) and quotations from third parties that add up to your budget.
  • Applications with missing information or documents will not be considered.
  • Only projects taking place from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027 will be considered.
  • The form on the application portal will require you to populate the following elements:
    • About us
    • Executive Summary
    • History of previous Live Events projects
    • Project Concept
    • Project Timelines
    • Marketing Plan and ROI for SAMPRA
    • Budget (supported by Quotations from service providers/vendors that add up to your total budget)
